Synthesis of Flavone Compounds with Biological Properties in the Presence of PdCl2 Nanoparticles

Abstract

Flavones, which derive from the backbone of 2-phenylchromen-4-one, are a class of flavonoids that are primarily found in cereals and herbs. Because flavones are biologically active compounds, several synthetic strategies have been developed; in this work, we have attempted to cover these strategies. Pd-catalyzed regioselectively intramolecular nucleophilic substitution of gem-dichloroalkenes derivatives with salicylaldehydes, leading to the synthesis of 3-arylchromones, has been developed. PdCl2/PPh3 could activate the gemdichloroalkenes and undergo the nucleophilic substitution by salicylaldehydes with the help of base.
