Investigation and Application of 2-(Benzyloxy)-4,5-Diphenyl-1H-Imidazole as an Anti-Inflammatory and Analgesic Agent

Abstract

In addition to having various biological properties, imidazoles have analgesic, anti-depressant, anticancer, anti-fungal, anti-tubercular, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-fungal properties. This research explored the use of copper nanoparticles as a catalyst for the synthesizing of new derivatives of imidazoles with anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. As a result of the three-component reaction of benzoin with ourea, and benzyl bromide, 2-(benzyloxy)-4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazole was synthesized in water solvent and at room temperature under the presence of CuCl2 as a catalyst. In the present study, spectroscopic data were used to confirm the structure of the synthesized compound. As a result, of mild conditions and one-pot reaction, this method has high efficiency and has been performed in green solvent.
